Jane Addams is female power!
Hello to all people
For this
post I decided to choose Jane Addams. She was born on September 6th of 1860 in
USA and she died on May 21th 1935. His tireless struggle struggles to defend
rights, life and peace. It took her to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931. In
her personal life she had to face several problems such as the death of her
parents when she was still very young and different health problems.
She studied
medicine but did not finish her studies because of problems that afflicted her
in the back. With all the above is after a trip to Europe that intensifies its
activity in social work in assistance centers. In 1889 he founded the Hull
House in Chicago (it was a model inspired by English ideas). The Hull House was
one of the first shelters where immigrants, orphans and other people in need
could find basic help and also for a possible social reintegration. He also had
an active participation in the defense of women's rights.
I really
like the figure of Jane Addams because she was able to leave her personal
problems and face the problems of society. Also from medicine was able to be a
contribution to social work and to be even more great defended his freedom to
choose to stay with the woman he loved at times that was not easy.
Thanks for reading!
